FLOOR SPACE REQUIREMENT FOR DEEP LITTER SYSTEM. SPACE FAR BIRD:-
chick under the brooder 0-8 weeks 4.65sq m(1/2sq feet) per bird.
8 - 12 weeks 8.00-9.30sq m. Growers 12-20 weeks 13sq (1.5sq feet).
Allow 3 chick size feeding through 1.2 meters long for 100 chicks to give 1.5 cm of feeding space per chick up to 8 weeks of age.
This will be replaced by 4 adult size feeders at about 16 weeks of age. From 16 weeks provide 3 of 10 litters capacity adult size drinkers for every 100 birds.
Provide a minimum of 10 cm of feeder at least 75 percent of the birds must be able to feed all at the same time.
4 adult size feeders measuring 1.2m long will serve 400 birds for deep litter sytem, hang the feeders so that the height of the feeding point of the feeders level with the back of the chicks.
